K-3 Favorite Websites

My first K-3 teacher website is a first grade website by Ms.White. This website is filled with creative ideas for organizing center rotations, bulletin boards, literacy and math activities, and monthly activities. I especially liked the literacy and math activities for Dr.Suess books such as a class graph, opposites word station game, number matching math station game, an adjective web, tree map, even or odd number page, a rhyming word matching game for literacy stations. It also has pictures of how the classroom is arranged and includes the writing and listening center, reading groups, meeting place for morning message, and even a loft for students to read in! It has pictures of her creative bulletin boards which I cannot wait to replicate. There are also pictues and some downloadable materials for patterns for seasonal art projects as well. The art projects also include a writing prompt which is appropriate for first graders learning how to write. Ms. White is a national board certified teacher and has relevant teaching materials that you can purchase from teacherspayteachers.com. If you would like to check out her website please visit:

My second K-3 teacher website is also a first grade website by a teacher named Mrs. Langston. This site has montly newsletters, pictures of the reading focus wall which has relevant information for first grade such as comprehension skills, genre, writing, grammar, phonics, spelling, and vocabulary. There are pictures of how centers are organized. Some of her centers include the listening center, library center, writing center, and math centers. There are links to printable centers, and downloadable PDF documents for reading skills and posters, retelling picture sequence cards. The literary instruction PDF posters include character setting, plot, monitor and fix up, biography, cause and effect, authors purpse and a plethora of others. This site also includes an abundance of popular and appropriate books for first graders for each month. For example, January's book picks are all about snow and includes fiction and non-fiction books from snowy days to arctic penguins. I am always looking for innovative and creative ideas to teach reading concepts since I am a Title 1 Reading Specialist for the primary grades, so I loved the focus wall. Birth through Pre-K Favorite Websites

One of my favorite websites for birth through Pre-K is Ms. Lorrie's Pre-K class website. This website includes a daily schedule which details the times and activities and gives parents and other visitors an idea of how the children's day is structured which is so important in early childhood. As we all know building literacy is fundamental during the early years and Ms. Lorrie included links to children's authors websites,  and a list of books by children's authors. She also does a monthly author study with the author listed for each motnh and information on the purpose of an author a month and what the children will gain by the study. Ms. Lorrie is highly organized and uses B.E.A.R. binders which is an acronym for Bring Everything Always Ready. The BEAR binders are communication tool between the parents and teacher and is divided into sections which include class lists and website information, a pencil pouch, colored sleeves for papers that need to be signed, work to keep at home, newsletters and book orders, parent/teacher communication, snack and school calendar. This site also has links to phonics songs from YouTube, morning circle videos, seasonal unit songs. It also includes videos of the children participating in classroom activities.

Another favorite birth-preK teacher website is by Ms. Levin and it is a Pre-K website. This site has wonderful center signs for organizing classroom centers and can be purchased for around $3. It also has pictures of how her classroom library is organized and a bulletin board idea. It also has various questions and answers to questions such as "my students don't like to go to the library center, what can I do to make them like it more?" There are recommended books and resources for preschoolers with links. The classroom management page is awesome and includes information and pictures for circle time. I especially liked the picture schedule cards so children can visually see how their day is structured. There were other creative ideas and pictures such as birthday bags during circle time. The classroom management page also includes information and pictures for math center management, literacy center management, play center management, classroom helpers, and rules and behavior. Each link provides detailed information, pictures, and typical questions with answers. It is well worth browsing! Again, each page also has recommendations for resources that are linked to Amazon.com. Ms. Levin also uses B.E.A.R. binders to communicate with parents, although her set up is slightly different. Other pages on this site include technology, teaching tips, preschool themes, music, and parent communication. Ms. Levin included her classroom daily schedule, curriculum that is used and school supplies.
